1: To get started with the below steps, you need to make sure that you log in to the WordPress with administrator account so that makes access do all stuff. After logging into the dashboard, hover the cursor on the left Menu saying ALL POSTS. (Look the below picture)
2: Now select the posts you want to move posts to another category.
3: Now after selection of posts, click on “Bulk Edit” action dropdown and click on edit option and finally click on apply button appeared at the beside.
4: Now you are on Bulk Edit page and now you need to select the categories you want the selected posts to be stored and after selection of categories, do not forget to click on UPDATE button to save the changes you were done. (Refer the below picture)

However, you created the post and unknowingly added into the wrong category and now you want to move that post(s) into a proper category or another category. 1: To move posts from one to another category, the first thing you need to do is install Bulk Move plugin from WordPress repo or you can follow the link.
2: After installing and activating the plugin you need to hover your cursor on tools appeared in the menu and click on Bulk Move link. (Refer the below image)
3: Now after landing on Bulk Move plugin page, you will see the image like below and you can also see the two categories drop-down box. At left side category dropdown you need to select the posts category that you want to move (A) and in other box select the category you want your posts to be stored (B).
4: after selecting the categories there’s another option saying ‘If the post contains other categories, then”. This means if your post is added to two categories then what plugin should do, you can remove that category by checking on “remove them option”. (look at above image)
5: Now you are all set to move your posts, if you are sure then click on Bulk Move button and plugin starts transferring your posts to selected category.

How to change default category in WordPress?
Hey, welcome to My Blog and in this tutorial, we will show you how to change default category in WordPress. Hope you know that WordPress comes with the features like categories tags etc to sort the content and make site structure meaningful and semantic. If you are the newbie to WordPress then we have published some posts that you should know about how to rename categories and how to change author for multiple posts etc.
This is the place where WordPress beginners can learn about WordPress features and WordPress guides. However, let’s come to the point about how to change default category.
What is Default Category in WordPress?
Default category comes with every new WordPress install that automatically created, and used for uncategorized posts or pages. Usually, you file the articles into any of the categories you created but if you forget to assign a category then that post or page will be filed under this default category. This default category is named as “Uncategorized” and cannot be deleted anymore.
Usually, you can rename, edit or delete the other categories by following Posts>>categories delete or edit the categories. But if you want to delete the uncategorized category (Default Category) then you have to assign another category as default to be used.
Anyhow, you can also able to rename the default category from uncategorized to something more meaningful, or you can set a new as the default category. So let’s see how you can rename the uncategorized category or set a new default category.
Rename the “Uncategorized” Category In WordPress!
To Rename the uncategorized category, you need to visit POSTS>>CATEGORIES page and then hover the cursor on category and click on “Quick Edit” link below the Uncategorized category.
Now this will take you to edit category page and then you can edit to the name you want and change the slug (URL). Do remember, if your site is not indexed by search engines then you may proceed to change the slug but if your site is indexed then it’s better not to make changes to it.

Change default category in WordPress!
You can easily able to change the default category, but you have to make sure that you add category other than uncategorized available. Now you added the category and would like to use as default, then you can skip this step. Otherwise, go to Posts » Categories and create a new category.
After completing the above step then, you need to visit Settings » Writing page. (Refer the below image)
After making the visit to writing the page, you will see like below image and click on the drop-down menu and select the category you want to use as default.
Now you selected the default category, but make sure you don’t forget to click on the save changes button to store your settings and WordPress will now use the category you selected as the default category. And you can also able to delete the uncategorized category.

But if you want to add the description to your category then you need to choose another option “edit” this allows you to do changes like rename, edit the slug, add the description and also you can add parent category to it.
3: Now you know how to edit or rename your category and slug too right? But one thing you need to keep in mind that, changing a category slug means changing the URL of the category. So if you are using that URL in the menu section then you need to update it manually.
